Ample Communications' multi-speed, multi-protocol frame processor solutions are primarily used in the design of data communications equipment such as routers and switches. Frame processor solutions provide system developers with a flexibility that allows them to easily expand their product portfolios and migrate their customers' systems to emerging technologies and line rates, often by a simple software upgrade.
Ethernet Aggregation
The Harrier is the industry-leading triple speed multiport Ethernet MAC with oversubscription and protection switching support. The Harrier family of 10/100/1000 Ethernet Aggregation frame processors are targeted at enterprise Ethernet, metro Ethernet and Ethernet over SONET applications.
The product family consists of three devices:
Harrier-24 (A2510) which aggregates twenty-four 10/100/1G
Ethernet ports,
Harrier-12 (A2511) which aggregates twelve
10/100/1G ports, and
Harrier-24LS (A2512) which aggregates
twenty-four 10/100 ports.
These devices support industry standard RGMII/RMII interfaces on the line-side and the SPI 4.2 interface on the system-side. Each line side port can be independently configured to operate at 10 Megabit, 100 Megabit, or 1 Gigabit line speed. On the system-side, the SPI-4.2 interface can be configured to run at the full-speed or at quarter-speed for a total of up to 12.8 Gbps and 2.5 Gbps data throughput respectively.
