Luminent provides laser diodes, ELEDs, detectors, transmitters, receivers and transceivers for singlemode fiber-optic transmission. Bi-directional modules offer increased bandwidth with lower fiber-counts. Luminent's in-house foundry provides customized and ITU-grid wavelengths for both DFB and Fabry-Perot laser-based products.
Luminent's transceivers begin with their state of the art MOCVD laser growth technology. This technology is integrated into their GBIC, 1x9, Small Form Factor, Small Form Pluggable, Xenpak and XFP transceiver packages. Their transceivers operate from 100Mb/s to 10Gb/s and beyond. Luminent's transceiver technology is optimized for the long wavelengths and high bandwidth demands of communication systems in the metropolitan and access networks.
Luminent has been at the forefront of CWDM technology for nearly five years. The CWDM product family includes discrete laser packages such as TO Cans and Pigtailed devices for all coarse wavelengths. In addition, Luminent offers various CWDM transceiver packages for metropolitan topologies at speeds up to OC-48. These packages include 1x9, GBIC, SFF, and SFP form factors. Luminent also offers the world's only fully integrated CWDM module which combines both the active lasers and receivers as well as the passive filters and couplers from Luminent's foundries.

Discretes, active and passive components
Luminent's active discretes begin with their MOCVD and MOVPE laser growth technology. Their foundries consistently produce world-class Distributed Feedback (DFB) and Fabry-Perot (FP) laser technologies that are optimized for the metropolitan and access networks. Luminents discrete passive components are based on fused, thin-film and planar waveguide technology. These passive components can be packaged into couplers, WDM multiplexers, switches and AWG's.
